The Manzi’s Fish Restaurant and Hotel
1-2 Leicester Street, London WC2

The Manzi’s Hotel and fish restaurant, which has been in the hands of the Manzi family for over four generations, has been sold.

The building was the haunt of theatricals since 1928 and has a colourful history. The “Waltz King” Johann Strauss stayed in it on his first visit to London in 1838 and the famous Australian soprano Marie Collier, a star of Covent Garden, fell to her death from a window of the hotel on the 8th December 1971.

The 17-bedroom seafood restaurant and hotel has been acquired by Shaftesbury Plc Ltd for a price of £5.3m.

The Manzi family was represented by Cyril Leonard whilst David Coffer Lyons represented Shaftesbury Plc.
