Cyril Leonard senior partner Douglas Blausten has congratulated client firm MTR on successfully bidding to become the new operator for part of London´s suburban railway system.

Hong Kong based MTR and construction firm Laing will take over the North London line in November under the new name London Overground in what Transport for London has described as the first part of a grand plan to transform the suburban railway network.

The aim is to extend the line and serve it with high-frequency metro-style services.

Cyril Leonard recently won a consultancy instruction from MTR's UK office to examine ways of applying the Corporation's skills on rail related real estate skills in a UK context. This followed the MTR's world renowned success in running the Hong Kong metro system for many years.

"I am delighted our clients have won such a prestigious contract, they deserve it," said Blausten. "The new network will bring many improvements including more staff, new trains, an upgraded service alongside refurbished and new stations. It will see the railway's real estate used to its fullest extent."
